Recently some groups, like the naacp, were very vocal in pointing out that White’s make up the largest number of welfare recipients.
okay, wanna go there? Here are the “numbers”.
The fact is, by sheer numbers, they do. About 2 million more Whites collect welfare than Blacks.
But, there are 237.8 million whites compared to 37.8 million Black’s.
So statistically, Black Americans are about 4 ½ times more likely to be on welfare than White’s, about twice as likely as Hispanics, and over ten times more likely than Asians.
Currently more than half of all Whites on welfare collect only AFDC (food stamps).
More than 80% of Blacks on the welfare rolls benefit from multiple programs including Food Stamps, Medicaid, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) which is cash, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), National Free School Lunch, Federal Housing/Section 8 Assistance, etc.
Black Americans tend to remain on the welfare rolls an average of 6 times longer than their White counterparts and 3 times longer than Hispanics.
Only the primary recipient is counted. If a single mother collects assistance for herself and 3 children, only she is counted. “Dependency Ratios” are used to define the number of dependent children under 18 years of age. The dependency ratio for whites receiving assistance is 69.4 percent, blacks are at 79.4 percent and Hispanics at 78.8.
Children born out of wedlock account for the greatest number of children on the welfare roles…37 percent of white children, 70 percent of black children, and 41 percent of Hispanic children are born to unwed mothers.
Blacks comprise 81% of those taking advantage of the $1 Billion Free Cell Phone Program (yes, free cell phones and free air time…don’t believe it? See http://www.safelinkwireless.com/ ) NOTE: The government is quick to point out that the free phones and air time are provided by the telecom companies, not by tax dollars. Of course who makes them do it? The FCC…by governmental regulation. The Telecom companies then claim this loss at tax time…so who ultimately ends up with the bill? You got it…the taxpayer
The total 2010 Federal budget for welfare? $800 Billion. Yes, you read it right…we’ll be spending more than the total of the government’s monstrous bailout disaster of 2009…and not just once, but every year…and growing. And that’s just the “Budget”…with projected overruns it is expected to top $1 TRILLION !
Taking all these figures into account: Blacks are roughly 5 times more likely to be receiving benefits of some sort, are 11 times more likely to be receiving multiple benefits and will continue to receive those benefits 8 times longer than their white counterparts.
